The Beginning
Shaun and I would run into each other often, as he lived just five houses down from me. Almost every day around the same time, he would walk his dog past my house. We’d exchange small talk and go about our day. At the time, I never thought much more of it—it was simply part of a familiar routine.

A Simple Message
One day, out of nowhere, Shaun appeared on my Facebook. I reached out and said, “Hey, aren’t you the guy who walks his dog past my house every day?” And just like that, our story truly began.

Our First Date
In April 2024, Shaun asked me out to dinner. What started as a simple invitation quickly grew into something meaningful and special.

Making It Official
Eight months later, in December, on my 43rd birthday, Shaun asked me to be his girlfriend. I didn’t answer right away—I made him wait. On Christmas Day, when he opened his Christmas card, he finally received his answer… a “yes” to the question he had asked nearly two weeks earlier. Our relationship officially began on December 25, 2024.

The Proposal
Fourteen months later, on February 14, 2026, on the beautiful island of Cancun, Mexico, we were enjoying a candlelit dinner on the sand under the sunset, with live cello music softly playing in the background. Shaun stood up, walked over to me, got down on one knee… and in that unforgettable moment, we became engaged.
